what to do during an earthquake
TIP 1: INDOORSDROP onto your hands and knees and take COVER. To take cover make sure you are under a table, desk or another piece of furniture. HOLD ON until the shaking stops. If there isn't a table near you or a piece of furniture, cover your face and neck (full body if possible). And then crouch in an inside corner of the building or house you are in.
|
TIP 2: INDOORS |
Stay away from any glass, doors, windows, walls and anything else that could fall. Stay in bed if you are there when the earthquake strikes. Hold on and protect your head with a pillow, unless you are under a heavy light device that could fall. In that case, move to the nearest safe place. Stay inside until the shaking stops and it is safe to go outside. Make sure you do not exit a building during the shaking. Research has shown that most injuries in earthquakes occur when people inside buildings attempt to move to a different location inside the building or try to leave.

TIP 3: INDOORS |
Do not use a door except if you know it is a strongly supported, and only if the door is close to you. Many inside doorways are lightly constructed and do not offer protection. Be aware during an earthquake that the electricity may go out or the sprinkler systems may go off or fire alarms may turn on.
